Kaplan University
Kaplan University was founded in 1937. There are campuses around the United States. Their most recent addition is their online campus. Kaplan University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school saw a need to help non traditional students receive the same quality of education through use of the internet. Many work and have family obligations so they cannot attend traditional on site classes.Strayer University is a place where you’ll feel comfortable because you will be with classmates who share your real-world perspective and enrich your studies with their professional and life experiences. The average age of a Strayer University student is 34, and virtually all of them are working full time while continuing their education. When you enroll at Strayer University, you’ll join more than 44,000 students from across the United States and around the world who attend classes at one of more than 70 convenient campus locations or take classes online. Kaplan University Online is a fully functional online school. It offers certificate, associate, bachelors and masters degree programs. There are eight schools all with a variety of career paths and degrees to choose from: School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Criminal Justice, School of Education, School of Information Systems and Technology, School of Nursing, School of Health Sciences and School of Legal Studies. There are also health care and business and finance certificates available. If a student purses a certificate they should let their career counselor know if they plan on applying any of the credits towards a future degree. In this way a student can build towards future educational goals. A school that offers all the courses online that would normally also be found at traditional on site campuses provides a unique opportunity for non-traditional students. Typically non traditional students are working adults. They can attend classes at their convenience and still receive the same quality of education as a traditional student sitting in a classroom on site. Students communicate with instructors and classmates via the school’s software. They can communicate via email, discussion boards, web field trips and seminars. Not all classes require text books. Many use online manuals, texts and research sites for students’ learning material. Financial aid counselors are available to help students find and organize funding for their education. This can come in the form of federal grants, loans and work study programs. They can receive special military assistance. Scholarships are always encouraged. There are also alternative education loan lenders. |
